Enter: the wagon. More specifically, the 2021 Skoda Octavia Wagon. Back and better than ever, the 2021 model has seen some upgrades.
So, what’s new?
The new Octavia Wagon is more than just your classic family car. Is it practical? Absolutely. But it also features Skoda’s classic, sleek European design, and dynamic performance that you don’t usually associate with a wagon.

Skoda has really upped the technology game this time around. They’ve introduced a bigger and better infotainment system, featuring a 10.25-inch screen with a touch slider, and an excellent sound system. As part of the Volkswagen Group, Skoda also implements the Virtual Cockpit, complete with a head-up display and easy connection to your devices with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
Be seen in traffic with the Matrix LED headlights and tail lights, and feel safe with Blind Spot Detection, Lane Assist, Emergency Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and up to ten airbags.
You’ll also see the classic Skoda features we know and love return, such as keyless entry and engine start, ambient lighting, rain-sensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, and all the other standard equipment we’ve come to expect from the European car maker.
Skoda knows that the new Octavia Wagon is a family car, so has equipped the back seats with USB charging points and device holders. That means you can whack a tablet in the holder, put on a movie, and drive in peace knowing the kids are entertained.
Did Someone Say Space?
Skoda did. One of the best things about Skoda as a brand is their Simply Clever storage solutions. Whether it’s hidden cubbies for your mobile phones, removable rubbish holders, or a hidden umbrella compartment, you’ll always have what you need at hand. The hooks in the boot allow you to split your cargo into boot nets or hang bags to stop them from rolling around while you drive, and the Virtual Pedal at the back lets you open the boot when your hands are full.
Speaking of the boot, you have 640 litres of boot space in the 2021 Skoda Octavia Wagon, which can be upgraded to 1700 litres if you fold the rear seats down.
Comfort is Key
The thing is, sometimes car manufacturers will create their wagons with nothing but cargo space in mind, leaving the passenger cabin a little cramped. But Skoda is pretty dedicated to comfort. Ergonomically designed with premium quality materials, the Octavia Wagon’s interior has definitely seen a facelift. This is especially true for the Skoda Octavia RS, which now looks completely different, with a sporier edge. You’ll find ample legroom and headroom in both, alongside comfort features such as rear sunshades, air vents for all passengers, and adjustable headrests so the kids can get some shut-eye if they need to.
We know we’ve mentioned the Ambient Lighting already, but it’s worth repeating, because it’s not every day you can adjust the brightness and colour of lighting throughout the cabin. Make it a cosy comfortable oasis with some warm lighting or get pumped up by putting up a vibrant purple – the choice is yours.
The new Octavia Wagon also features “by wire” technology. What does that mean? It means that the gear selector connects with the gearbox electronically rather than mechanically. This allows more design and placement options for the gear shifter, and ultimately makes using automatic transmission more comfortable. You’ll also find the parking brake is electric, too, with no annoying brake sticking out of the centre console. It’s all sleek lines and optimal comfort, baby!
Plenty of Power
The new Octavia Wagon’s engine is nothing unexpected but still packs a punch. You can enjoy a 1.4 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque; the Skoda Octavia RS Wagon takes it a step up, with a 2.0 litre engine giving you 1280kW of power and 370Nm of torque. Fuel economy is great on both too, with 5.9L/100km and 6.8L/100km for the Octavia Wagon and the Octavia RS Wagon respectively.
Getting into the Nitty Gritty
So what’s available to you? Opening up the range is the Octavia 110TSI Ambition. That’ll get you all of the standard equipment, including 18-inch silver alloy wheels, the aforementioned Virtual Cockpit that Skoda does so well, and most of the other features already touched on.
Next up is the Octavia Wagon 110TSI Style. This model will get you 180inch anthracite alloy wheels, the matrix LED headlights, fog lights with cornering functionality. and keyless entry. You’ll also have automatic parking at your fingertips, and power-folding mirrors. Pretty snazzy!
Top of the range is the Octavia RS Wagon. As we’ve said, this one has a little bit more oomph, large wheels, sports suspension and steering, and a body kit that features bespoke elements. You also get a few more safety features chucked in there, like the Passenger Protect Assist and Blind Spot Monitoring.
You can also upgrade your models with the optional Tech Pack and Luxury Pack.
