The 2023 Skoda Superb iV Hybrid is considered as the Czech brand’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). This European style executive car is available in either an estate or hatchback variant.
In recent years, Skoda has been building other types of hybrid cars in an effort to champion sustainability. The Superb iV makes use of the drivetrain found in a Volkswagen Passat GTE and Skoda’s body platform.
Under the hood, the Skoda Superb has a 1.4-Litre petrol engine which provides 115 kW and an electric motor that delivers 85 kW. The hybrid system has a combined output of 160 kW of power and 400 Nm of torque. It’s mated with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission that elevates its handling.

Skoda also plans to launch other hybrid variants on their other car models. For example, their best selling large SUV, the Octavia in 2021. According to the Czech automaker, they will have at least ten hybrid or electrified models by 2025.
Aside from hybrid vehicles, Skoda also has its electric vehicle in the CITIGOe IV. This small car can charge from 0 to 80-percent in just an hour and has a decent range of up to 170 miles.
The Superb is also equipped with the company’s signature Green Tech and Eco mode, which makes it more fuel-efficient. According to independent tests, the Superb consumes 6.6 Litres of fuel to cover 100 kilometres and has a carbon footprint of just 105 g/Km.
Is There a New Skoda Superb Coming Out?
There is an upcoming 2023 Skoda Superb which is initially scheduled to be released on Australian soil in the third quarter of this year. However, the launch is expected to be delayed because of the WLTP emissions regulations that are happening in Europe.
Meanwhile, the new Superb is also getting some nifty features such as a feature that automatically steers the car to the roadside in case of an emergency. This is the first time that Skoda is installing said safety system into one of their car models.
